golf tournamentTo stay afloat, every business must sell. Hiring a cartoonist can help you sell your product or service!

Not every organization appears to understand the advantages of strategic business development, which can be a highly successful way to boost sales quickly. I’m not looking to sell something to a client when I approach them. Instead, I’m looking for a collaboration. I’m a firm believer in using business development as a strategy for growth, and I’ve found contact campaigning to be an excellent instrument in achieving that goal.

Whether you’re selling directly or looking for business development opportunities, you need to know who to target. Your best bet is to sell to the CEO, president, or owner.

Selling at the top means you’re speaking with the final decision maker, someone who isn’t bound by budgets and can make a quick judgment. Because the top is where the key decisions are made, selling at the top also equals bigger sales.

But first, you must establish contact, which is seldom simple. You can’t sell to the top person, if you’re being kept out of the executive suite. Because VIPs are both important and busy, reaching them might be difficult. They are continually forced to make difficult decisions regarding how and with whom they will spend their time. You have a minimal probability of getting through if you aren’t someone they know.

That’s where hiring a cartoonist may help. A recent customer wanted to get his foot in the door and meet with the CEO of a prominent corporation in Chicago. His plan was to send the CEO a framed cartoon featuring the CEO doing something he enjoyed, which in this case was golfing! The CEO was known for finding his misplaced golf balls in the most unusual spots. So, with that in mind, I made a cartoon of the CEO finding his golf ball in an archeological dig, rather than a sand trap. It was a big success! I recently spoke with this client, who informed me that he not only sells to this company on a regular basis, but that our cartoon was prominently displayed on the CEO’s wall the last time he visited.

That’s the power of cartoons in strategic business development!

Is there a corporate bigwig you’ve been trying to contact? With a custom cartoon, I can help you get your foot in the door!
